Parliamentary committee invites complaints against election commissioner nominees in Nepal

The Parliamentary Hearing Committee has called for complaints against the three individuals recommended for the positions of Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commissioners.

The committee issued a public notice today, inviting anyone with substantial grounds, evidence, or information against the suitability of the individuals recommended by the Constitutional Council to submit complaints within 10 days.

According to the notice, complaints can be filed in Nepali or English against Man Bahadur Karki (Morang), recommended for Chief Election Commissioner, and Dr. Rajiv Subba (Kathmandu) and Guru Prasad Wagle (Okhaldhunga), recommended for Election Commissioners, along with evidence.

Complainants must include their name, surname, address, phone number, and clearly specify their district in the complaint. The committee has stated that copies of documents supporting the basis and evidence must also be attached when submitting a complaint.

Complaints can be submitted to the secretariat of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee located in Singha Durbar or sent via the District Administration Office without any fees.

The committee noted that this notice was first published on Ashadh 26. The Constitutional Council, chaired by Prime Minister Balen Shah, decided to recommend these individuals for appointment during its meeting on Ashadh 19.
