Over a thousand fire incidents in four months

Kathmandu – Since last April, there have been 1,011 incidents of fires reported, resulting in the death of 15 people and injuries to 144 others. These fires have impacted 1,124 families.

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, there have been a total of 2,456 disaster-related incidents recorded since last April. Within this period, there have been 243 lightning incidents, resulting in 28 fatalities and 169 injuries, affecting 283 families.

In the same timeframe, there have been 66 incidents of snakebites, claiming the lives of eight people and injuring 64 others, impacting 73 families. There have also been 134 incidents involving animal attacks, which resulted in the death of 12 people and injuries to 62 others, affecting 206 families.

Furthermore, altitude sickness and windstorms each claimed the lives of 12 people. Landslides were responsible for 241 incidents leading to 12 deaths, while windstorms caused 276 incidents, resulting in eight fatalities.

Just on Tuesday, there were eight incidents of flooding, 16 landslides, five fires, and three animal attacks reported.
