Open application announced for BP Koirala Cancer Hospital chairperson position

Chitwan – The vacant position of chairperson at the BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital will be filled through an open application process.

The Ministry of Health and Population published a notice on Tuesday, stating that interested and qualified individuals can submit their applications within seven days.

According to the notice, the qualifications are outlined as per Clause 7, Sub-clause (1), Section (a) of the Hospital Act, 2053.

To be eligible for the position of chairperson, candidates must have at least a postgraduate degree in medical science from a recognized educational institution and at least 15 years of experience in the field of cancer, or a postgraduate degree in medical science from a recognized institution with at least 20 years of experience in the health sector. The government will nominate the chairperson from among senior doctors meeting these criteria.

The term for the chairperson position is three years. Previously, the Cabinet meeting held on Chaitra 20, 2079, had decided to appoint Dr. Vijayraj Nyaupane as the chairperson of the hospital.

With the completion of his three-year term, the process to appoint a new chairperson has commenced. This is the first time the chairperson will be appointed through an open application process.
