NPL: Anil’s Brilliant Half-Century Leads Janakpur to Second Consecutive Win

Kathmandu – In the third match of the Nepal Premier League (NPL), Janakpur Royals secured their second consecutive victory. After defeating Biratnagar in the opening game, Janakpur went on to beat Karnali Yaks by 8 wickets in the second match.

Chasing the target of 142 runs set by Karnali, Janakpur achieved the goal in 15.1 overs, losing 2 wickets. The openers played a superb innings, sharing an 84-run partnership for the first wicket, which laid the foundation for an easy victory for Janakpur.

Anil Sah, who shared 84 runs with Asif Sheikh, played a half-century knock and partnered with Lahiru Milintha for 33 runs for the second wicket. Milintha was dismissed after scoring 24 runs from 13 balls.

After Milintha’s dismissal, Jimmy Neesham and opener Anil completed the remaining runs. Neesham scored 16 runs, while captain Anil played an unbeaten knock of 62 runs from 41 balls, including 6 fours and 3 sixes. For Karnali, Jason Macksud and Mausham Dhakal took one wicket each.

Earlier, Karnali Yaks, who batted first after winning the toss, set a target of 142 runs. Karnali scored 141 runs while losing 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Karnali made a poor start, losing five wickets while adding just 35 runs, but their middle order managed to stabilize the innings and post a competitive total. Karnali’s batting, led by Arjun Ghurti and Sompal Kami, produced explosive batting, particularly in the last 2 overs, where they scored 42 runs.

Arjun Ghurti made 33 runs from 22 balls, while captain Sompal Kami played a blistering knock of 29 runs from 13 balls. Karnali’s highest scorer was Gulsan Jha, who made 36 runs from 27 balls. Shikhar Dhawan and Babar Hayat contributed 14 and 12 runs, respectively, before being dismissed.

For Janakpur, Mohammad Mohsin took 2 wickets, while Kishor Mahto, Lalit Rajwansi, Harsh Thakur, and Jamie Neesham took one wicket each.
