Nepal’s House of Representatives passes Appropriation Bill, 2083

Kathmandu – The Appropriation Bill, 2083 has been passed by the House of Representatives.

In today’s session of the House, Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle’s proposal to pass the ‘Appropriation Bill, 2083’ was approved by a majority.

Prior to this, Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal presented sections two to eleven of the bill for decision.

Proposals to cut expenditures under the appropriation heading, put forth by lawmakers Kriparam Rana, Parvati Bik, Jogkumar Barbaria Yadav, Santosh Subba, Nita Ghatani, Parshuram Tamang, Arjunkumar Karki, Narendrakumar Kerung, Rameshkumar Malla, Sajida Khatun Siddiqui, Yubaraj Dulal, Eshudakumari Baral, Guruprasad Baral, Mohammad Istiyak Rai, Balawati Sharma, Bishnumaya Bik, Yagyabahadur Bogati, Ainbahadur Mahara, Poushparaj Kandel, and Padmakumari Aryal, were rejected by a majority in the assembly.

Finance Minister Dr. Wagle had presented the annual revenue and expenditure estimates (budget) for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84 at a joint meeting of the federal parliament on Jestha 15.

Discussions on the headings of the ministries under the appropriation bill took place in the assembly on Ashadh 1 and 2. Ministers responded to the questions raised during these discussions on Wednesday and Thursday.

The next meeting of the House of Representatives is scheduled for Friday at 11:00 AM.
