Nepali women’s cricket team reaches Asian Games semifinals after defeating Indonesia

Kathmandu – The Nepali women’s cricket team has advanced to the semifinals of the Asian Games Women’s Cricket Qualifiers by defeating Indonesia in Group ‘B’.

In today’s match at the Bayuemas Oval Cricket Ground in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Nepal secured a four-wicket victory over Indonesia to reach the semifinals of the tournament. This marks Nepal’s second consecutive win in the competition. Previously, Nepal had claimed a remarkable 19-run victory over China in their first match. In today’s game, Indonesia had set a target of 114 runs for Nepal, which they achieved in 19.3 overs, losing six wickets in the process.

For Nepal, captain Indu Verma played a crucial unbeaten innings of 42 runs. Soni Pakhareen contributed 29 runs, while Sita Rana Magar added an aggressive unbeaten 13 runs off 6 balls towards the end. Earlier, Indonesia, having won the toss and elected to bat first, scored 113 runs for the loss of four wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Indonesian captain Ni Putu Ayu Nanda Sakarini remained unbeaten with 56 runs, and Ni Luh Devi contributed 23 runs.

In bowling, Manisha Upadhyay delivered an excellent performance for Nepal, taking two wickets for just nine runs in her four overs. Riya Sharma also claimed one wicket. Indu Verma, who excelled in the match, was declared the Player of the Match.
