The Nepali Embassy in Doha organized a special awareness program on Friday, focusing on the welfare and safety of Nepali workers in Qatar.

The program included discussions on various aspects of Qatari laws, labor processes, and financial literacy.

Hamid Khan, a legal advisor from Qatar’s National Human Rights Committee, gave a detailed presentation on the rules and laws Nepali workers must follow while in Qatar. He also warned participants about potential legal and practical risks they might face during their stay.

Labor attaché Sita Duwadi from the embassy explained Nepal’s labor laws, the labor approval process, and the benefits workers receive when enrolled in the Social Security Fund.

Similarly, Second Secretary Smarika Subedi provided information on the passport and consular services offered by the embassy.

To promote financial awareness among workers, Himal Remit’s representative, Benuprasad Timilsina, highlighted the benefits of sending remittances through formal or banking channels and the risks associated with using informal methods like hundi.

Concluding the program, Acting Ambassador Kumar Rai urged all Nepali workers in Qatar to fully comply with local labor laws and maintain discipline in their workplaces.
