The Nepali Congress Central Disciplinary Committee has sought explanations from seven provincial lawmakers, including three provincial ministers, for allegedly not supporting the party’s official candidates.

In a meeting held on Wednesday, the committee decided to demand answers from these individuals, citing internal betrayal during the House of Representatives elections.

The ministers asked for explanations include Lumbini Province’s Forest Minister Devkaran Prasad Kalwar, Koshi Province’s Minister Pradeep Sunuwar, and Lumbini Province’s Transport and Tourism Minister Prachandavikram Nyaupane. Kalwar is a member of the General Committee, while Sunuwar is a former central member.

Additionally, other lawmakers facing disciplinary action include Raju Khanal, who is also the Vice President of Lumbini Province, and Madhesh Province lawmakers Jangilal Rai, Sakuntidevi Mahara, and Kaushalkishor Rai.

According to Krishna Prasad Dulal, acting chief secretary of the Congress Central Office, all of them have been instructed to submit satisfactory explanations within five days of receiving the letter.

The committee stated that this step was taken as part of an investigation into violations of party discipline during the elections.
