The Nepali Congress is preparing to break its coalition with the CPN-UML across all seven provinces. This decision comes in light of disagreements in Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces. According to a senior Congress leader, although no formal decision has been made, discussions at the leadership level have already taken place regarding ending the coalition with the UML.

Just this Wednesday morning, four Congress ministers resigned from the UML-led government in Karnali Province. In Sudurpaschim, where Congress leads the government, UML ministers were dismissed.

After Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah dismissed four ministers, the UML withdrew its support for the Congress-led government, effective from 5 PM on Wednesday.

The disputes in these two provinces have put the Congress-UML coalition at risk in all seven provinces. A Congress leader told Deshsanchar that the UML has not adhered to the coalition’s spirit, leading to the current situation. “The UML did not proceed according to the coalition’s spirit. The conflict in two provinces is already visible. Preparations are underway to break the coalition in other provinces as well,” he said.

The leader also mentioned that Congress is preparing to form a coalition with the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) after breaking ties with the UML. Talks are ongoing between Congress and the NCP regarding a new coalition.

Issues have also arisen in the UML-led Lumbini Province coalition, particularly concerning budget matters, leading to disputes there as well.
