The Nepali Congress has once again extended the deadline for updating its active membership. A meeting held at the party’s central office, chaired by General Secretary and Coordinator of the Membership Management Central Committee, Pradip Poudel, decided on Thursday to extend the deadline until midnight on Jestha 28.

Acting Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Dulal stated that the extension was made after complaints about insufficient time arose, despite the membership update progressing enthusiastically across the country. According to Dulal, this extension is said to be the final one.

The number of active members renewing their membership in the Congress has been declining. The party claims that during its 14th General Convention in 2078, it had 850,000 active members. By last Poush, 450,000 had renewed their membership, and 150,000 had taken new memberships.

Since the campaign began electronically on Baisakh 1, only about 400,000 members have updated their status as of Thursday. However, there has been a significant increase in updates in recent days.
