Nepal defeats Malaysia by 167 runs in T20 international match

Kathmandu – Nepal, already selected for the Asian Games, defeated Malaysia by a wide margin of 167 runs in their second match.

Continuing their winning streak, opener Kushal Bhurtel scored a century with 126 runs. He became the first Nepali player to score consecutive centuries in T20 internationals.

After losing the toss and being put to bat first, Nepal set a high score of 275 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Opener Bhurtel hit 14 fours and 8 sixes off 54 balls.

Similarly, Arif Sheikh scored 68 runs off 24 balls, hitting 5 fours and 7 sixes. The two shared a 134-run partnership for the first wicket. Additionally, Sandeep Jora scored 15 runs, captain Dipendra Singh Airee made 31, and Lokesh Bam added 10 runs.

Chasing a target of 276 runs, Malaysia was restricted to 108 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their 20 overs. For Malaysia, captain Syed Aziz’s 54 runs was the highest score.

Apart from Aziz, only Sharvin Muniandy with 18 runs and opener Muhammad Haziq with 13 runs managed to reach double figures.

For Nepal, Sher Malla took 3 wickets, while Karan KC, Sompal Kami, Sandeep Lamichhane, Dipendra Singh Airee, and Kushal Malla each took 1 wicket.
