Kathmandu – The Nepal Bar Association has expressed strong objection to the working style of the Supreme Court administration and plans to hold a protest this afternoon.

The Bar is set to stage a symbolic protest by lighting lanterns at 1:15 PM in response to the Supreme Court administration’s rejection of a submitted petition. According to Bar spokesperson and General Secretary, Senior Advocate Kedar Prasad Koirala, the protest aims to oppose the unexpected actions of the administration and call for justice, reason, and a transparent process.

The Bar has deemed the administration’s refusal to register the petition without any reason as an overreach of authority and an obstruction to justice. The Bar has criticized the administration’s failure to comply with the acting Chief Justice’s orders, describing it as extraordinary and unnatural. The Bar has publicly stated that such actions constitute a historical mistake that should not be forgotten, and that existing laws are applicable in this context.

Meanwhile, the Bar has also expressed serious concern over remarks made by Members of Parliament Yagya Mani Neupane and Samiksha Baskota in the House of Representatives regarding a case under consideration in the Supreme Court. The Bar has deemed it unfortunate for parliamentary discussions to occur on a sub judice matter and has demanded the removal of these remarks from the parliamentary record.

Additionally, the Bar has urged the Speaker to issue clear directives to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future.
