Nepal and India discuss enhancing trade and investment cooperation in Kolkata

The Consulate General of Nepal in Kolkata, India, organized a discussion program aimed at promoting trade, transit, investment, and economic cooperation between Nepal and India. Held last Tuesday, the event focused on enhancing collaboration in trade, transit, transportation, connectivity, and investment between the two countries, according to the Consulate General.

The discussions also covered Nepal’s trade and transit infrastructure, investment opportunities, and efforts to strengthen Nepal-India economic cooperation. Participants included senior officials such as Rajendra Raman, Chairman of Syama Prasad Mukherjee Port in Kolkata, representatives from the Kolkata Customs Office, water transport and logistics service providers, members of the Kolkata Customs House Agents Association, Nepal Customs House Agents Association, importers, exporters, investors, Nepali businesspeople, journalists, and representatives from both the public and private sectors.

Additionally, Ravi Shankar Rajhans, Traffic Manager at Syama Prasad Mukherjee Port, provided information on the facilities available at the port, infrastructure development efforts, and measures taken to facilitate the transportation of goods to Nepal.

Participants offered suggestions on trade facilitation, customs coordination, transport management, connectivity expansion, and investment promotion. Consul General Jhakka Prasad Acharya addressed the queries and concerns raised by the attendees, reaffirming the Consulate General’s commitment to continuous cooperation for trade facilitation, connectivity expansion, and the promotion of bilateral economic cooperation between Nepal and India.
