NBA wants PM to initiate for early appoint of CJ

Kathmandu, Apr 13: Irked by prolonged absence of a full-fledged Chief Justice (CJ) in the Supreme Court, the Nepal Bar Association has asked Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal to urgently fulfill the post.

A Delegation of the Nepal Bar Association (NBA) led by its chairman Gopal Krishna Ghimire met PM Dahal Thursday and set a 10-day deadline for PM to initiate the appointment of a full-fledged CJ or face a nationwide protest. The Bar delegations consisted of its office bearers and past presidents.

Hari Krishna Karki, senior most judge and first in the line of succession has been officiating as the Acting CJ for the past 14 months following suspension of Cholendra Shumsher Rana and his retirement in the midst of his incomplete trial for impeachment by the House of Representatives.
