Motorcyclist dies after collision with culvert in Sunsari, Nepal

A motorcycle accident near Milijuli School in Barahakshetra Municipality-5, Sunsari, resulted in one fatality this morning.

According to Chandra Khadka, the information officer at the District Police Office, Sunsari, the accident occurred around 4:30 AM on the Kalabanzar-Dharan road section. The motorcycle, with the registration number Province 1-01-018 P 7892, collided with a cement culvert. Following the collision, the motorcycle fell approximately 34 feet into a canal.

The deceased has been identified as 30-year-old Manish Basnet, a resident of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City-8, Bargi, who was driving the motorcycle, Khadka informed.

Police reported that Basnet’s body was found face down in the canal with a deep injury on his right cheek. Locals alerted the Bharoul police post after hearing a loud noise.

After preliminary investigations, the District Police Office, Sunsari, stated that the body has been sent to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences for an autopsy.
