In Morang, residents expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of attention from the concerned authorities towards road maintenance by blocking the vehicle of a Koshi Province minister at Poushpalal Chowk in Biratnagar.

On Thursday, locals stopped the Nissan vehicle with the license plate 1 Jh, 594, carrying Indramani Parajuli, the Province’s Minister for Internal Affairs and Law. Residents of Biratnagar Metropolitan City Wards 1 and 3, as well as the Tinpaini road section, have been voicing concerns about the authorities’ negligence in repairing the roads in the area. During the protest, locals lay down in front of the minister’s vehicle to express their grievances.

According to them, the lack of road maintenance has led to frequent accidents, causing problems for daily commuters. After the locals blocked the road by lying down in front of the minister’s vehicle, a team from the Morang District Police Office and local police administration arrived at the scene.

Makendra Kumar Mishra, Deputy Superintendent of Police and Information Officer at the Morang District Police Office, stated that the road was reopened after a brief discussion with the locals. However, the locals temporarily blocked one side of the road leading south from Poushpalal Chowk to Tinpaini.
