Monsoon brings rain and cloudy skies to several Nepal provinces

The country is currently experiencing the effects of monsoon winds. The monsoon trough is positioned further north than average, near the Terai region of Nepal.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Weather Forecasting Division, light to moderate rainfall is occurring in many areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and in one or two places in Lumbini and Karnali provinces.

This afternoon, most areas in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces will be cloudy, while Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces will generally see cloudy skies.

There is a possibility of moderate rainfall or snowfall with thunder and lightning in some parts of the Himalayan regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and in a few places in the Himalayan regions of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

In many areas of the hilly and Terai regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as in some parts of the hilly and Terai regions of Madhesh, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces, and in a few places in the hilly regions of Karnali province, there is a possibility of moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning.

Heavy rainfall is likely in a few places in the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and in one or two places in the Terai region of Koshi province and the hilly region of Lumbini province.

Tonight, the entire country will generally be cloudy. There is a possibility of moderate rainfall or snowfall with thunder and lightning in a few places in the Himalayan regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and in one or two places in the Himalayan regions of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

In some parts of the hilly and Terai regions of Madhesh province, and in a few places in the hilly and Terai regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, as well as in a few places in the hilly and Terai regions of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, there is a possibility of moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning.

Heavy rainfall is likely in one or two places in the Terai region of Koshi province and the hilly region of Gandaki province. The department has advised taking necessary precautions to avoid risks or damage from potential landslides, floods, and soil erosion in areas expecting rainfall.
