Lumbini Provincial Assembly meeting postponed indefinitely amid budget dissatisfaction

The Lumbini Provincial Assembly meeting scheduled for 1 PM on Thursday has been postponed indefinitely. According to a notice issued by the Provincial Assembly Secretariat, the meeting has been postponed on the Speaker’s directive until further notice is published.

The notice issued by Provincial Assembly Secretary Durlabh Kumar Pun Magar states that the meeting was postponed in accordance with sub-rule (3) of rule 12 of the Lumbini Provincial Assembly Regulations, 2079.

Discussions on the budget in the Provincial Assembly have been affected as members from the ruling party have expressed dissatisfaction over the budget and annual program (Red Book) for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84. The assembly meeting has been postponed again amid demands for budget rewriting and protests from both the ruling and opposition parties. Continuous discussions are ongoing among the parties regarding resuming the assembly.

The Secretariat has stated that information about when the meeting will be held will be provided through another notice.
