With Nepal’s 48-hour election silence period now in effect ahead of the House of Representatives vote, authorities have found two vehicles set on fire early this morning in Kathmandu.

Police said the incidents occurred at Sukedhara and Naikap around 3 a.m., when both vehicles were deliberately torched.

Inside the burned vehicles, officers recovered leaflets bearing the name of Durga Prasai, coordinator of the “Nation, Nationality, Religion, Culture and Citizen Protection Campaign.”

The leaflets carried slogans such as “First Nepal, First Nepali,” alongside 12 points of political messaging.

Prasai, an activist previously detained multiple times by Nepal Police for alleged disruptive activities, has been a controversial figure in the lead-up to the vote.

According to the Nepal Police’s central spokesperson, both vehicles — registered as Ba 7 Cha 1401 in Sukedhara and BAA 2836 in Naikap — were confirmed to have been set ablaze, and an investigation is underway.
