Leaders and Laureates conference likely to be called off
Kathmandu,04 Feb: The Leaders and Laureates conference scheduled in Lumbini is likely to be called off.
Although an official announcement is yet to be made, the sudden change in national politics and its direct impact on the continuation of the Provincial government- the organizer of the event, appears to have caused the event to be canceled.
The source in the organizing body told Desh Sanchar it will be difficult to carry on the preparation in the shadow of political uncertainty, ‘and therefore its formal cancellation will be made by the appropriate authorities.’
At least ten Nobel laureates and about a dozen world leaders, some of them current heads of the government and state, were expected to participate in the event that was to focus on the future of the world— children and their right to compassion —surrounding for their growth.
The 4th International Summit of Laureates and Leaders for Children, Development, and Peace had been scheduled on March 11 and 12.
