Landslides block major highways in Lalitpur, Pyuthan, Makwanpur, and Lamjung

Several major highways and roads across the country have been completely blocked due to landslides following recent rainfall.

According to Central Police Spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General Avinarayan Kafle, landslides this morning have obstructed the Kanti Highway at Pangdur in Bagmati Rural Municipality-3, Lalitpur; the Bhaluwang-Pyuthan road section at Khahare Khola in Sarumarani Rural Municipality-4, Pyuthan; the Kanti Highway section at Bharyangdanda in Bhimphedi Rural Municipality-8, Makwanpur; and the Mid-Hill Highway at Bimire Bhanjyang in Madhyapur Municipality-10, Lamjung.

He stated, “Various highways and road sections have been completely blocked due to landslides this morning. The Araniko Highway at Kodari in Bhotekoshi-2, Sindhupalchok, has been fully obstructed since the landslide on Baisakh 16 and remains impassable.”

The Mid-Hill Highway at Bokhim in Bhojpur Municipality-5, blocked by floods on Baisakh 12, and the Beni-Jomsom road section at Jalthale in Annapurna Rural Municipality-3, Myagdi, affected by a landslide on Baisakh 16, have partially resumed one-way traffic, police reported.

The police have urged travelers to exercise caution and ensure safety while traveling on highways that are blocked or operating one-way due to the increased risk of floods and landslides during the rainy season.
