Kathmandu – Former Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli has claimed that the Nepali Congress was split to prevent democratic forces from uniting.

Speaking at an interaction program titled ‘Nepal’s Communist Movement and People’s Leader Madan Bhandari’ held in Kathmandu on Sunday to mark the 75th birth anniversary of Madan Bhandari, Oli stated that groups motivated by the objective of advancing the country on a counter-revolutionary path have attempted to target the UML as well.

He described the CPN-UML as a party guided by the people’s multiparty democracy and committed to building socialism, asserting that it remains vigilant and aware of its policies and principles.

He remarked, “How did it split, who split it, why did it split, and what happened after it split? The Nepali Congress has indeed split. There might be attempts to split others too.”

He further added, “If there are attempts to interfere from outside, we recognize such actions and will defeat them. The CPN-UML is united, will remain united, is strong, and will become even stronger.”
