Kathmandu to aid family of self-immolation victim Ganesh Nepali

Kathmandu Metropolitan City has decided to provide humanitarian assistance, employment, and free education to the children of Ganesh Nepali from Mugu, who passed away after attempting self-immolation in front of the Department of Passports.

The decision will be formally made and implemented following the upcoming executive meeting of the metropolis, as stated in a press release issued by the city’s spokesperson, Navin Manandhar.

Ganesh Nepali, originally from Mugu and residing in Bhaktapur, attempted self-immolation on Ashadh 25 in front of the Department of Passports.

Following his tragic death during treatment, the metropolis expressed deep sorrow and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.

The government, through the Ministry of Home Affairs, has decided to form an investigation committee for an impartial inquiry into the incident. The metropolis has pledged full cooperation with the committee for a factual investigation.

Based on the recommendations from the investigation committee, necessary corrective and responsible actions will be taken, the metropolis clarified.

The city has also expressed its readiness to coordinate and collaborate with the government to identify solutions and develop good practices to prevent such sensitive incidents from recurring in the future.

Additionally, in this tragic and sensitive moment, the metropolis has made a heartfelt appeal for all parties to remain calm and patient.
