Indian Police raids homes of several journalists

Kathmandu, 03 Oct:  Police in India have raided homes of several journalists, stand-up comics, satirists and commentators, early this morning, according to Indian media.

Delhi police have started interrogations in matters “related to terror links” involving the draconian Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), said The Wire, adding the raids are in connection with FIR number 224/2023 filed on August 17, 2023.

Abhisar Sharma, Bhasha Singh, Urmilesh, Prabir Purkayastha, Aunindyo Chakravarty, Sohail Hashmi, Sanjay Rajaura and Teesta Setalvad are among those ‘raided’.

There are reports that their devices, laptops and telephones were seized.
