India approves purchase of 10,000 MW electricity from Nepal

Kathmandu, 05 Sept:  India’s cabinet has approved purchase of 10,000 MW electricity from Nepal in the next ten years.

According to a tweet by Dr, Shankar Sharma, Nepal’s ambassador to India, the decision of the cabinet has paved the way to develop a new road map for electricity developments India’s cabinet approval to purchase 10,000 MWs of electricity from Nepal in  the next ten years has paved the way to develop a new road map for electricity development in Nepal which could play a significant role in its economic development.

India had agreed to buy up to ten thousand MW electricity in Nepal in the next ten years during Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda’s visit to Delhi in May and that has been officially formalised with the cabinet approval.
