Kathmandu — Actress Rekha Thapa says she will not participate in the election and will remain active in films, highlighting the connection she sees between books and cinema. She spoke on the second day of the Kitab Jatra event organized by the Kitab Yatra Foundation at Nepal Police Club on Friday.

Thapa noted that both books and cinema tell stories of society, and she enjoys reading books. She said Nepal has many stories of hardship, which she also portrays through her films, and asked, “When will we show stories of the society smiling in books and films?”

When facilitator Naresh Bhattarai asked whether she would join politics or the election, Thapa replied that she would only be a political observer this time, and that she is currently focused on her film career.

She also shared that although she was good at academics, her passion for the arts grew stronger, and she became more active in her artistic field, believing success comes from mastering one’s area of interest.

Thapa emphasized that being successful should not be defined solely by academic achievements. She said that since Buddha’s teachings are known by his actions and influence, art too has significance beyond classroom education.
