Kathmandu – Pushpa Kamal Dahal, coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party, says he has chosen to run as a candidate from Rukum East to send a new message of socialism from a place that was pivotal in declaring Nepal a republic.

Speaking at a gathering and training program for Rukum East workers held in Kathmandu on Friday, Dahal emphasized that Rukum East was historically significant as the decisive centre of Nepal’s democratic movement.

He recalled that the party’s historic ideological debates took place at the Chenchuwang meeting in the same region, which is known not only nationally but also internationally.

Dahal said that the country’s political situation remains complex following the Gen-Z movement, and that Rukum East is an appropriate place to unify the nation, elevate the communist movement, and spread a new message of building socialism across the country.

For these reasons, he stated, he has decided to be a candidate from Rukum East in the upcoming election scheduled for Falgun 21.
