Kathmandu, 17 May:  Resham Chaudhary, founder of the Nagarik Unmukti Party, has said there is no alternative to accepting the verdict of the Supreme Court
as he has ‘faith’ in the Supreme Court.

Chaudhary, in his statement released through the Facebook of his wife and Parliamentarian Ranjita shrestha, has indicated that he would go for judicial review as that option is available with him.

The supreme court had yesterday upheld the verdict of the Deepayal High Court that had held him guilty for Tikapur carnage and awarded the life sentence to Chaduhary.

He told his party leaders who had gone to meet him to the Dillibazar central jail that he is not upset with the Supreme Court verdict.

‘The verdict may not have been judicious, but there is no alternative to accepting it. With all hope that I will ultimately get justice, I am accepting it. The door to go for judicial review is not yet closed,’ the Facebook status said, adding , ‘I am also writing this to appeal all our supporters and well wishers to respect the Supreme Court verdict.’

Chaudhary had gone for an appeal in the Supreme Court against the Deepayal High Court judgment that had declared him and seven others guilty in Tikapur carnage in which eight people including a senior police officer and an infant had been killed by the mob.

A division bench of the supreme court comprising justice Ananda Mohan Bhattarai and Nahakul Subedi had upheld the high court verdict.
