Kathmandu—Home Minister Sudhan Gurung stated that there is no evidence of any physical or mental torture by the police in the death of Shrikrishna BK in Sindhuli police custody.

Responding to an inquiry by Bhuvan Bahadur Sunar during the National Assembly meeting on Friday, Home Minister Gurung said that BK’s death appeared to be a suicide.

He said, “The post-mortem report indicates that the cause of death is consistent with suicide. Additionally, the investigation report states that there is no evidence of any physical or mental torture by the police while in custody.”

According to Home Minister Gurung, a committee led by a Deputy Inspector General (DIG) was formed to uncover the facts of the incident.

The Ministry has informed that the necessary recommendations and suggestions provided by the investigation committee have been sent to the Nepal Police Headquarters and the District Administration Office, Sindhuli, for implementation.

Home Minister Gurung also mentioned that a ‘Dalit Cell’ has been implemented within the Nepal Police to effectively address issues of caste discrimination and socially and religiously sensitive matters. He stated that, similar to the Women, Children, and Senior Citizens Service Center, this cell will conduct victim-friendly investigations to build public trust.
