Kathmandu – Today, Hindu women across the country are celebrating the Haritalika Teej festival. On this occasion, married women observe the fast seeking longevity for their husbands, while unmarried women fast in hopes of finding a good groom. From early morning, a crowd of devotees has gathered at the Pashupatinath Temple.

Although the temple grounds typically see very large crowds every Teej, this year the long lines commonly observed in past years are not present. Devotees have noted that new management measures introduced this year have allowed for a smoother darshan experience.

This year, for the first time at Pashupatinath, artificial water droplets have been installed at the main gate. Devotees standing in line for long periods have found relief from the heat thanks to this addition. From the entrance, the lines for darshan have been arranged in a well-organized and orderly manner.

On the occasion of Teej, other Shiva temples across the Kathmandu Valley have also seen significant numbers of devotees. Security arrangements have been made tight, and volunteers have been deployed to assist devotees.
