Kathmandu – A habeas corpus petition has been filed against the arrest of Jyoti Prakash Pandey, the CEO of Nepal Investment Mega Bank Limited.

Pandey’s wife, Niru Dahal Pandey, submitted the petition to the Supreme Court, claiming that her husband was unlawfully detained.

According to family sources, the hearing on the writ is scheduled for Thursday. The Central Investigation Bureau of the police arrested him on Wednesday, raising questions about the auctioning of Smart Telecom Pvt. Ltd.’s collateral assets.

The government alleges that there was an attempt to illegally seize Smart Telecom’s assets. However, the bank maintains that the auction process was conducted in accordance with legal procedures and with the approval of the Nepal Rastra Bank.
