Govt to provide Rs 2 lakhs to family of each deceased

Kathmandu, Nov 5: The government, as part of immediate relief, has decided to provide Rs 200,000 to the family of each deceased who lost their lives in the earthquake on Friday.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held at Singha Durbar this morning took a decision to this effect, said government spokesperson and Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma.

The Cabinet paid tribute to the deceased persons and decided to expedite the rescue and relief works, she said.

At least 157 people, so far, have been confirmed dead due to the 6.4 magnitude earthquake.
