Govt decides to recommend Resham Chaudhary’s amnesty to the President

Kathmandu, 28 May: The government has decided to recommend to President Ram Chandra Poudel to grant amnesty to Resham Chaudhary.

According to Rekha Sharma, Minister of Communication and Information Technology, the cabinet meeting held today morning has decided in this regard.

Resham Chaudhary, founder of the Nagarik Unmukti Party is serving a life sentence upon being held guilty for Tikapur carnage in which eight people including a senior police officer and an infant had been killed by the mob.

The recommendation has been made to wave his remaining prison sentence on Monday, on the occasion of Republic day.
