The government is preparing to clear squatter settlements along the riverbanks in the Kathmandu Valley, prompting affected locals to protest. On Friday, squatters reached the office of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, demanding a halt to the planned bulldozing.

In anticipation of potential unrest, there is a heavy security presence around the party office, and security measures have been intensified.

Following government directives, police began announcing the eviction plan via loudspeakers in the affected areas from Thursday evening. Squatters have been notified to vacate by Friday evening. Announcements will continue throughout the day, with plans to start bulldozing from early Saturday morning.
