Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s political advisor, Asim Shah, clarified that the government has introduced an ordinance to ensure that legal complexities do not hinder public interest work and that the delivery of services to the people remains efficient, in line with democratic principles.

He stated that the government recommended the ordinance to remove policy-related complexities in public service delivery and administrative systems, which are necessary steps for significant progress.

Advisor Shah, through social media, expressed that the government has taken important steps to eliminate policy-related complexities in public service delivery and administrative systems.

For this purpose, the Cabinet meeting on Baisakh 14 recommended the ordinance for certification to President Ram Chandra Poudel.

He mentioned, “Immediately after the formation of the current government, the chairperson of the ruling party, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), called for facilitating governance reforms in line with the spirit of the new mandate by paving the way for politically appointed officials. Despite this call, the government chose this legal route to address practical difficulties in performance and coordination. This will end the ‘deadlock’ in performance and establish a results-oriented governance system.”

He further clarified that the ordinance was introduced to ensure that decisions of public concern are executed within a specified timeframe, providing the people with the assurance of good governance.

Highlighting that the ordinance aims to end delays in public interest work caused by outdated and complex legal provisions, he stated that the government aims to identify and provide sustainable and scientific solutions to procedural issues that have lingered for decades.

He wrote, “These ordinances are not brought for the interest of any individual or group but purely for the benefit of citizens and the effectiveness of the state mechanism. Embracing the democratic principle that public interest work should not be halted due to legal complexities, this has laid a strong foundation to accelerate the country’s journey towards prosperity.”
