Government Announces Two-Day Weekend for Offices and Schools

Kathmandu — The government has decided to grant two public holidays each week, on Saturdays and Sundays.

The decision was made during a Cabinet meeting held on Sunday.

Government spokesperson Sasmit Pokharel said the policy—granting holidays to government offices and all educational institutions—will come into effect this week to help ease pressure on petroleum supplies.

He added that office hours for all government institutions will now run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
