Government Declares Three-Day Public Holiday for Upcoming House of Representatives Election

Kathmandu — The Government of Nepal has decided to give a three-day public holiday for the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21.

At a Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday, government spokesperson and Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal informed that public holidays will be observed on Falgun 20, 21, and 22. The decision was made following the recommendation of the Election Commission.

Prior to the election, there will also be holidays for the Holi festival on Falgun 18 (hills) and 19 (Terai). Likewise, Falgun 23 falls on Saturday and Falgun 24 is a holiday for International Women’s Day resulting in nearly a full week of holidays during the election period.
