Gandaki CM praises Bhanubhakta Acharya’s role in Nepali language development

Chief Minister of Gandaki Province, Surendra Raj Pandey, has stated that the contributions of Adikavi Bhanubhakta Acharya to the development of the Nepali language, literature, and culture, as well as to the strengthening of national unity, are unparalleled and historic.

In a message issued today on the occasion of the 213th Bhanu Jayanti, he highlighted that Bhanubhakta’s works, including the translation of the Ramayana into Nepali, along with Bhaktamala, Vadhushiksha, and Ramgita, have enriched the Nepali language and played a significant role in linguistically connecting various regions, communities, and cultures.

“The creations of Adikavi have strengthened national identity, cultural consciousness, and the spirit of Nepaliness. His work of translating the Ramayana, which was limited to the Sanskrit language, into Nepali and bringing it to the general public has not only enhanced the prestige of the Nepali language but also significantly contributed to fostering the spirit of national unity,” stated Chief Minister Pandey in his message.

Born on Ashadh 29, 1871 BS in Chundi Ramgha, Tanahun, Adikavi Bhanubhakta Acharya’s contributions to the development of the Nepali language and literature are highly respected. On Bhanu Jayanti, the Gandaki Province government has been declaring a public holiday in his honor.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Pandey urged everyone to embrace the path of language, literature, culture, and national unity shown by Adikavi and to work towards building a prosperous, civilized, and cultured society.
