Kathmandu – Former Prime Minister Sushila Karki has expressed her intention to dedicate her time to the field of literature. She made this announcement while addressing the ‘Kathmandu Calling Literature Festival’ held in Lalitpur.

Karki urged people to recognize her not just as a former Chief Justice or Prime Minister, but also as a literature enthusiast. She explained that her roles in the judiciary and executive were born out of necessity and duty, whereas literature is her true passion.

Reflecting on her literary journey, Karki shared her experiences during the 1990 people’s movement when she was imprisoned. During her two-month incarceration, she closely observed the suffering and experiences of female inmates, which inspired her to write the novel ‘Kara’. She published this novel only after her retirement.

Karki revealed that she still has many story and novel concepts, along with half-written manuscripts, and plans to bring these works to the public. The event saw a significant presence of renowned poets and writers from Nepal and India.
