Taplejung – The under-construction motorable bridge over the Tamor River, connecting Taplejung and Panchthar as part of the Tamor Corridor, has been swept away by flooding.

The bridge, linking Niguradin in Athrai Triveni Rural Municipality-1 (Taplejung) and Angbung in Hilihang Rural Municipality (Panchthar), was washed away by the flood that followed the rains starting Friday.

Construction of the bridge began around eight years ago, and it had achieved approximately 40 to 45 percent physical progress so far. Athrai Triveni Rural Municipality Chairperson Dipendra Pomu informed that the truss structure and other materials at the construction site were carried away by the flood while truss installation work was ongoing for the past week.

A team from the rural municipality conducted an on-site inspection and monitoring of the location on Saturday. MS Sapana Yakthung JV Construction Company had been working on the bridge since 2074 BS under a contract worth Rs 220,577,890.
