The Ministry of Finance, led by Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Waglé, is fully engaged in finalizing the budget to be presented at the joint session of the Federal Parliament on Jestha 15. Finance Minister Waglé will present the budget at 4 PM on Friday at the joint session.

The budget will be based on the manifesto presented by the Rastriya Swatantra Party during the elections, the 100-point governance reform action plan released after the government was formed, and the priorities and principles of the appropriation bill presented in Parliament.

The budget will be presented in the multipurpose hall at Singha Durbar.

In recent days, Finance Minister Waglé has been spending most of his time at the Ministry of Finance, and visitor access to the ministry has been restricted, according to sources.

Although the National Planning Commission set a ceiling of Rs 1.89 trillion for the upcoming fiscal year, sources from the Ministry of Finance have indicated that the budget size will increase slightly.

The source mentioned that in the process of creating an inclusive budget, the size is expected to grow somewhat.

The current fiscal year’s budget was Rs 1.964 trillion, but after the formation of the government following the Gen Z movement, Finance Minister Rameshwar Khanal reduced the budget size to Rs 1.688 trillion through a mid-term review.
