Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has refuted corruption allegations against him, stating he would resign if any irregularities are proven. Speaking at the House of Representatives on Thursday, he warned that he would also reveal past scandals of the questioning MPs.

Denying accusations of favoring certain businesses through tax rates from his position at the Finance Ministry, he claimed the suspicion of 2 billion rupees against him is baseless. He mentioned that he has already refuted such news in the Public Accounts Committee and emphasized that he would not disrespect the public mandate for good governance.

Asserting his strong commitment to good governance, he stated that he could not betray the public within just two months of taking office. He challenged those pointing fingers at him to maintain their moral integrity.

He questioned the MPs raising issues about him, asking, “Are your scandals unknown?” He stated, “I also said in the Public Accounts Committee today, some petty individuals wrote about a suspicion of 2 billion. But if even 2 rupees of misconduct or dishonesty is proven against me, I will resign from the ministerial position. I am ready to leave public life altogether. May the same moral courage and integrity be bestowed upon the honorable members pointing fingers at me. We are not unaware of your scandals; they will also be revealed.”
