Federal Parliament’s budget session begins today with joint meeting at 4 PM

The federal Parliament’s budget session is set to commence today. According to the Secretary General of the federal Parliament, Padma Prasad Pandey, a joint meeting of the federal Parliament will convene at 4:00 PM today.

On today’s agenda, President Ram Chandra Paudel will present the government’s policies and programs for the upcoming fiscal year to the joint session of the House, as per Article 95 of the Constitution of Nepal.

Members of the federal Parliament have been requested to be present at the House of Representatives chamber (multipurpose hall) in Singha Durbar before 3:45 PM for the joint session.

Separate meetings of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly will also take place today at 2:00 PM. During today’s meeting, the Speaker will read out the contents of a letter from the President’s Office regarding changes in the Cabinet.

Following this, the Speaker will nominate members to preside over the meeting in the absence of the Speaker. The potential agenda for today includes the Speaker presenting an order to remove obstacles, issued under Rule 260 of the House of Representatives Regulations, 2079, for approval. Additionally, Ganesh Parajuli, the chairperson of the House of Representatives Rules Drafting Committee, will present the committee’s report for 2083.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Balendra Shah will present the Public Procurement (Second Amendment) Ordinance, 2083, the Special Provisions Ordinance on Dismissal of Public Office Holders, 2083, and the Constitutional Council (Functions, Duties, Powers, and Procedures) (First Amendment) Ordinance, 2083.

Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle will present the Asset Laundering Prevention (Third Amendment) Ordinance, 2083, while Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Sobita Gautam will present an ordinance to amend some Nepal Acts, 2083.

Land Management, Cooperatives, and Poverty Alleviation Minister Pratibha Rawal is scheduled to present the Cooperative (First Amendment) Ordinance, 2083.

Additionally, Health and Population Minister Nisha Mehta will present an ordinance to amend some Nepal Acts related to health science institutions, 2083, and Education, Science, and Technology Minister Sasmita Pokharel will present an ordinance to amend some Nepal Acts related to universities, 2083.

These ordinances will also be presented in the National Assembly meeting.
