Kathmandu — Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has insisted that the special general convention the party organized is fully lawful.

Speaking at the closed session of the party’s special convention in Bhrikutimandap, Thapa presented a political proposal and emphasized that neither the Constitution, the law nor the Election Commission can declare the convention illegal.

Thapa said that no one can dare raise a legal objection to the convention’s legitimacy, noting that the party’s statute has been certified by the Election Commission and is grounded in constitutional provisions. “Is this special general convention lawful or not? What does the Constitution say? There is nothing higher than the Constitution,” he said. “Based on Nepal’s Constitution and the statute certified by the Election Commission, no one can declare our special general convention unlawful — rest assured.”
