EC upholds JSP’s Ram Sahaya Yadav’s Candidature for Vice President

Kathmandu: The Election Commission (EC)  has dismissed objections regarding the candidature of Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav for the Vice Presidential election.

The EC said the Vice President does not have to necessarily belong to different gender than the President, but any candidate belonging to different ethnic background will also be eligible.

Yadav who belongs to the Janata Samajbadi Party is the joint candidate supported by seven political parties who came together to elect Ram Chandra Poudel as the President.

These parties are likely to come together to form a new alliance, and join the government after the vice presidential election on March 17, and likely vote of confidence that Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal will seek in the house of representatives.

Janata Samajbadi Party chief, Upendra Yadav is likely to contest from the constituency that Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav won after he is elected the Vice President. Upendra Yadav had lost to C K Raut Of The Janamat Party.
