Earthquake jolts western Nepal

Kathmandu: An earthquake measuring 6.3 in the Ricther scale hit Bajhang and large neighbouring parts including parts of Uttarakhand in the afternoon today.

According to the Seismological Centre, the earthquake that shook the area at 3.06 Nepali time  had its epicenter in Talkot area of Bajhang and its impact was felt far beyond as well.

Along with areas in adjoining Lumbini, Gandaki and Karnali regions, avast areas of Uttarakhand, western Uttar Pradesh and Delhi were also affected by the earthquake.

While full details of the damage and destruction are still awaited, Jai-Prithvi Highway cutting across Bajhang area has been blocked because of earthquake and resultant landslides at different places.

Initial reports also said that a large number of houses of fallen and many have suffered damage, but there is no reports about the loss of human lives, yet.

Another earthquake, relative smaller magnitude had been recorded in Bajhang around 2.40 past mid-night returned with in bigger form in the afternoon Tuesday.
