Digitizing Masterpieces: France-Nepal Unveil ‘Micro-Folie’ Digital Art Hub in Lalitpur

Kathmandu  – The French Embassy in Nepal and the Alliance française  opened a new cultural platform— : Micro‑Folie, that offers access to over 5.000 works of arts worldwide.
Spearheaded by France’s Ministry of Culture and coordinated by La Villette in partnership with twelve distinguished institutes including the Centre Pompidou, the Musée du Louvre and the Musée d’Orsay, this digital-museum initiative offers access to more than 5,000 works of arts globally .
A release by the French Embassy said two free  sessions per week will be organized for the general public, while group bookings are available through the Alliance française for associations and educational institutions. During the inauguration, French Ambassador Virginie Corteval highlighted that “through this project thousands of artworks, a shared heritage of humanity, are being showcased here in this enchanting city, Lalitpur,” urging residents of all generations in Nepal to seize the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in art.
At its core, the Micro-Folie features a Digital Museum enabling high-definition access to art, architecture, science and live-performance content from its partner institutions. With this launch, Team France in Nepal marks a significant step in promoting cultural and artistic exchange by offering free access to a global heritage collection to Nepali audiences.
