Different communist groups heading for China

Kathmandu, Jun 10; Almost all the communist groups from Nepal will be heading for China at the invitation of the Chinese Communist Party’s School Department. Former President Bidhya Devi Bhandari has also been invited by CPC’s International Department but the date of her travel has been kept secret.

Those invited include the Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist, Maoist Center, Communist Party of Nepal-Maoists, led by Biplab and the United socialist party but the size of the delegations of parties apparently vary according to their strength in the country.

According to the information available, the Biplab group will send a two-member delegation consisting of Maila Lama and Khagendra K C. A team of the United Socialist Party including its Vice Chairman Prabesh Hamal is already in China. Similarly, the Maoist Centre and the UML groups are also likely to leave for China tomorrow.

UML’s Anjan Shakya is likely to lead the party delegation. Party sources said another delegation under the leadership of Deputy General Secretary Bishnu Rimal will visit China a week later.

Former President Bhandari who China  considers a trusted friend is likely to visit China after the return of all these groups fueling speculations that China is exploring the possibility of Nepal’s communist parties coming together.
