Rabindra Dhant delivering his victory speech

Nepali mixed martial artist Rabindra Dhant, representing Kathmandu based fight team Lock N Roll MMA/ jiu-jitsu maintained his unbeaten professional record by submitting Jason Lyndoh, from Shillong and training out of Khanapara MMA.

He submitted Lyndoh with a rear naked choke right before the two-minute mark of the very first round in the main event of the first card put together by Nepali MMA promotion Nepali Warriors Championship at Tapout Hall, Baluwatar.

The win means that the fighter, originally from Bajhang, is now up to 6-0 in his professional career. In the co-main event- the only other professional fight on the Card-Indian fighter Suyash Jadhav knocked out Nepali Mandip Rana Magar after only 23 seconds in the octagon.

These two bouts, at Featherweight and Lightweight respectively, marked the first time professional MMA fights were contested in Nepal.

None of the remaining 5 bouts- contested as amateur, ended up going to the judges’ scorecards either.

Lightweight Prabal Ghale and Bantamweight Farhan Ibrahim won their fights by T.K.O via ground and pound, against Shreyansh Singh and Sudip Tamang respectively, in the 2nd round.

Featherweight Rahul Thakuri also won by T.K.O after his opponent Dheeraj Sharma motioned to the referee to stop the fight after being tagged with a right cross in the final round after 2 lackluster preceding rounds.

Lightweight Karma Gurung fought an all action, back and forth 1 rounder with Aakash Dahiya before submitting him with a rear naked choke.

The only victorious Indian amateur fighter was Lightweight Sahil Boora as he submitted Kunjan Kakshapati with a guillotine choke in the 2nd round.

Thus, the night ended with Team Nepal/Lock N Roll up 5-2 over Team India, represented by various gyms.
