Kathmandu – As part of the campaign to remove encroached structures along the riverbanks in the Kathmandu Valley, demolition of a seven-storey building illegally constructed along the Dhobikhola Corridor has begun.

The massive structure was built in violation of river standards and on public land. Despite repeated warnings from the metropolis and concerned authorities, the homeowner ignored the directives, leading to the deployment of bulldozers.

Currently, there is a heavy presence of security personnel and municipal police at the site. To minimize damage to belongings inside the building, officers from the Nepal Police and municipal police are actively assisting in removing items.

The local administration has been seen giving the homeowner time to relocate furniture, electronic devices, and other personal items to a safe location, while also participating in the effort themselves.
